The European Beating Cancer Plan highlights the need for a new EU-supported cancer screening program to ensure high performance of cancer screening programs in all Member States : therefore Regione Lombardia joined the new Joint Action "New EU Cancer Screening Scheme Implementation" - EUCanScreen.
Similarly to the BDQ4L project, which focuses on improving the health of cancer patients by developing innovative healthcare technologies, this new joint action aims to enhance the high-quality implementation of screening for specific cancers. This initiative seeks to drive advancements in early detection and improve the outcomes for patients by ensuring access to timely and accurate screening methods.
The overall goal of EUCanScreen is to ensure sustainable implementation of high-quality screening for breast, cervical, cervical and colorectal cancer, as well as implementation of newly recommended screening programs for lung, prostate and gastric tract cancers. EUCanScreen will facilitate the reduction of the cancer burden and the achievement of equity throughout the EU. The EUCanScreen Work Plan builds on the results of key previous and ongoing EU activities in the field of screening. of the EU on screening and consists of eleven interconnected work packages.
