The University of Birmingham and University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust in the UK have recruited 19 of 20 patients into the BD4QoL study. Recruitment into this study has been more challenging than initially forecasted due to technical issues, potential participants changing their mind, and a large number of patients not having Android phones. The UK team has adapted their recruitment strategy throughout the study to deal with, and to help mitigate, these challenges, including an improved screening process to review patient records for eligibility before clinics, increasing the number of patients approached, and more targeted approaches to patients.
